If you’re looking to add a little pizzazz to your meals, may we suggest looking to the produce aisle? Specifically at those the yellow, green, or reddish oblong fruits you might have overlooked before—mangoes! Like peaches, plums, and other stone fruits, they’re an excellent addition to all kinds of recipes, and not just dessert. Citrusy and extra sweet, they go surprisingly well in everything from apps to dinners. Check out our 27 mango recipes for ideas—make them, close your eyes, and imagine you’re on a tropical island vacation.

First things first—like those other tricky fruits pomegranates and pineapples, mangoes are delicious to eat, but deceivingly difficult to cut. Check out our guide to the easiest way to cut one, and you’ll be in fruity paradise in no time (hint: it involves a water glass!).

Once you’ve got your mango prepped and ready to go, the sky is really the limit as to what you can put it in. Tired of the same old blueberries and strawberries in the morning? Swap them out for mango, like we did in our , our mango smoothie, our pudín de mango (a Panamanian dish similar to bread pudding), or our mango lassi. Tbh, we wouldn’t say no to eating some of our mango desserts for breakfast too. Try our rainbow fro-yo pops, our mango sticky rice, our Hawaiian cheesecake salad, or our loaf pan mango pops, and see if you agree.

Though mango is wonderful in sweet recipes, don’t discount it in savory ones too. Mango salsa is a classic savory application—it’s great on its own, but we also love it alongside meat, like in our grilled halibut, our air fryer blackened tilapia, our honey-glazed pork chops, or our mahi-mahi with avocado crema. It also makes for a great sweet condiment to pair with more savory dishes—try our mango chutney on grilled cheese or our mango habanero hot sauce on, well, anything to see what we mean.

Want even more fruit inspiration? Check out our favorite pineapple desserts to keep with the tropical vibe, or stick closer to home with our strawberry desserts, our sweet and savory orange recipes, or our lemon-blueberry desserts too.
