Is there a new ‘Saturday Night Live’ episode tonight (6/1/24)? When is the ‘SNL’ finale? (2024)

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Season 49 of “Saturday Night Live” has wrapped up after 20 episodes.

During the finale on May 18, host Jake Gyllenhaal opened the show with a monologue, teasing that it was “the last episode before the big anniversary season.”

Sabrina Carpenter, the singer and actress, expressed her excitement over her debut as a musical guest. The 25-year-old artist delivered a captivating performance of her hit single, “Espresso,” during the episode.

Colin Jost and Michael Che wrapped up their 10th season together on “Weekend Update,” wishing everyone a great summer.

Despite the presence of many longtime “SNL” cast members, there were no notable farewells during the finale, suggesting that all 17 cast members might return for the show’s 50th season.

The show returned for its 49th season with new episodes in mid-October. And, in typical “SNL” fashion, the long-running show brought in a very special guest for its season premiere on Oct. 14: Pete Davidson, the born-and-raised Staten Islander who joined “SNL” in 2014 at the ripe age of 20, and bowed out at the end of Season 47. Ice Spice was the musical guest.

Puerto Rican rapper and singer Bad Bunny pulled double duty on Oct. 21. Stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze hosted the Oct. 28 episode, alongside musical guest the Foo Fighters.

Nov. 11 saw “Dune” and “Wonka” actor Timothée Chalamet host for his second time. He was joined by musical guest Boygenius, which is comprised of singers Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Julien Baker. On Nov. 18, Jason Momoa returned to “SNL” to host for the second time. Tate McRae made her debut as a musical guest.

On Dec. 2, actress Emma Stone hosted alongside musical guest Noah Kahan. It was Stone’s fifth time hosting “SNL,” which inducted her into the illustrious Five-Timer’s Club. On Dec. 9, actor Adam Driver hosted, with Olivia Rodrigo as musical guest. On Dec. 16, former “Saturday Night Live” superstar Kate McKinnon returned to Studio 8H for the first time since her exit from the show in 2022 at the end of Season 47. She was joined by singer Billie Eilish.

The first show of 2024 featured actor Jacob Elordi with musical guest Rapp on Jan. 20. The Jan. 27 episode featured “Madame Web” actress Dakota Johnson, alongside musical guest Justin Timberlake. On Feb. 3, actress Ayo Edebiria of “The Bear” hosted, with Jennifer Lopez as musical guest. On Feb. 24, comedian Shane Gillis hosted for the first time; he was joined by musical guest 21 Savage. On March 2, actress Sydney Sweeney made her debut as host, while country singer Kacey Musgraves returned for her third appearance as a musical guest.

On March 9, actor Josh Brolin hosted with musical guest Ariana Grande making her third appearance on the show. The March 30 episode featured comedian and actor Ramy Youssef for the first time with Grammy-nominated rapper Travis Scott making his second appearance. On April 6, American actress, comedian, and screenwriter Kristen Wiig hosted for her fifth time, while London-born singer-songwriter RAYE made her debut as musical guest. On April 13, Academy Award nominee Ryan Gosling hosted for a third time; he was joined by country singer-songwriter Chris Stapleton. The May 4 episode featured English-Albanian singer-songwriter Dua Lipa playing double-duty as both host and musical guest. On May 11, actress and comedian Maya Rudolph hosted “SNL” for the third time with rock band Vampire Weekend, which made its fourth appearance as musical guest.

Former Staten Islander Colin Jost, the longest-serving “Weekend Update” anchor in the show’s history, returned to the show for Season 49. Joining him were his longtime “Weekend Update” co-anchor Michael Che, plus Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, Punkie Johnson, Ego Nwodim, Kenan Thompson and Bowen Yang.

Featured players Marcello Hernández, James Austin Johnson, Molly Kearney, Michael Longfellow, Sarah Sherman and Devon Walker also returned. Chloe Troast was the only new addition to the cast.
